Shiny Claims, Dirty flames is a collective campaign by groups from all over the world. We’re concerned about the terrible human and climate costs of mining and producing iron and steel.

We believe that companies like ArcelorMittal should not be able to keep the true cost of their operations secret. ArcelorMittal is huge, influential, and claims to lead the steel sector. Our alliance includes community groups who live on the fence-line of ArcelorMittal mines and steel plants, and know the dirty reality. Our campaign includes climate actors who scrutinise the climate claims ArcelorMittal makes, and know it falls short. We come together in the Fair Steel Coalition and in this campaign.
